SARA SILKIN
Contemporary
Sara Silkin is a Los Angeles based
choreographer and filmmaker. After earning her B.A from UCLA World Arts and
Cultures program she moved to Israel to study with the Kibbutz Contemporary
Dance Company. This opportunity allowed her to immerse herself in Israeli
contemporary dance and study various techniques that she utilizes in her
movement practice and choreography: Forsythe, GaGa, continuum, and
countertechnique.
Sara went on to pursue her own professional
dance career in Los Angeles. She was an assistant choreographer to Barak
Marshall and Sarah Elgart. Sara has performed for Heidi Duckler (Heidi
Duckler Dance Theater), Kitty McNamee (Hysterica Dance Company), Josie Walsh
(BalletRed), Nguyen Nguyen (LAMA), Laura Karlin (Invertigo Dance Theatre),
IN/EX Dance Project, AXIOM (Denna Thomsen), and Teddy Forance. She has been
in music videos choreographed by Ryan Heffington and Nina Mcneely. She was
the main dancer in Secret Cinema's immersive concert experience for Laura
Marling in London choreographed by Kitty Mcnamee.
As a choreographer she has created movement
for the James Franco feature film the The Mad Whale, commercials for
Samsung, and choreographed Billboard's #1 music video of 2017 Slip Away by
Perfume Genius.
Sara earned her MFA from USC School of
Cinematic Arts with an emphasis in screenwriting and directing. She is
currently working on her short film that involves DANCE.
