KARINE NEWBORN
Ballet, Jazz
Karine Newborn was born
and raised in Paris, France where she studied ballet with teachers from the
Paris Opera and the Paris conservatory. She also studied jazz, modern,
placement, voice and acting.
At the age of 15 she
started working in some of the most renowned modern jazz companies in Paris
and performed in "Cats" (Paris). She continued her career in France until
she moved to America when she was 20 to pursue bigger dreams. She worked as
a dancer, choreographer, singer, actor, dance teacher and private coach in
Ballet, Pointe work, Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, Contemporary Ballet, Voice,
Pilates, floor barre (turn out, stretch and strength) and
Placement/Alignment.
She had the joy of
performing in many stage shows like "Aida" on Broadway (Elton John) “Cats"
(Paris), Golden Boys"( Long Warf theater), and numerous music videos &
movies ("South Pacific" with Glenn Close, "Do You Want To Dance" ...) trade
shows industrial (Nike, Asix, Abba & many more).
She choreographed numerous
shows and industrials in Los Angeles and was the associate choreographer on
the musical "Golden Boy" (Long Wharf Theater/Connecticut).
She also had the pleasure
to work with renown choreographers like Vince Parterson, Marguerite
Derricks, Jerry Mitchel, Wayne Cilento, Billy Goodson, Alex Magno, Travis
Payne.
Karine is the former owner
and director of Brooklyn Dance project in NY and was the artistic director
at Act III Performing Art Center in Redondo Beach. She has taught for over
three decades, working with young and mature dancers in all styles of dance.
She was a permanent teacher at EDGE Performing Arts Center in L.A. for over
10 years and Broadway Dance Center in NYC. She has also taught numerous
workshops at (BDC Japan), Studio Harmonic (Paris, France) and all over
America and she was part of the convention L.A. DanceForce and Pacific Dance
Project.
