My teaching style
and the way I like to move draws mainly from Release Technique,
Countertechnique and a strong emphasis on Improvisation. In my
classes, Improvisation is a vital component because it allows each
individual to discover their most authentic form of movement.
However, I always make sure that I have a balance of both
improvisation exercises and technique exercises because they are
both equally important.
For the most part,
my class is structured like most modern technique classes. A brief
warm up, followed by multiple exercises geared towards specific
tasks i.e. plies, todues, alignment of the spine, release and
recover, isolation and recognition of specific regions of the body.
This will typically lead into a structured improvisation with the
intent of tuning in to each dancer's bodies and incorporating the
"techniques" just practiced. Various traveling and strength
exercises across the floor follow the improvisation exercises and
the class will end in phrase-work. Phrase-work is extremely
important because it teaches one to soak in information quickly,
learn structured material and then take individual liberties to
break down the phrase and make the movement feel authentic to their
Kevin Frey had one
dream when he was young, and that dream was to become a professional
dancer. Getting his training at dance studios in San Diego,
California such as Dance Unlimited and Studio 429, Kevin quickly
became acquainted in various styles of dance such as Hip Hop,
Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, and Ballet. With his eyes always on the
dream, he quickly moved to Los Angeles, the center of the commercial
Kevin is currently
living in Los Angeles working as a professional dancer and has had
the amazing opportunity to work with such innovators as Tessandra
Chavez, NappyTabs, Kenny Ortega, Liz Imperio, Rosero McCoy, Brian
Friedman, Richard Jackson, Hi- Hat, Chucky Klapow, Danny Teeson and
others. He has been featured on hit television shows such as The
Voice, America’s Got Talent, The MTV Video Music Awards, Disney’s
Shake It Up and many more.
For the past
several years Kevin has been a dancer for the global superstar Lady
Gaga! He has had the unparalleled opportunity to be a dancer for 2
of her world tours: The Born This Way Ball, and ArtRave: The Artpop
Ball. Along with touring globally he has also been featured in music
videos and tv performances for Lady Gaga.
Kevin hopes to not
only achieve his own goals, but to inspire others to do what they
love and to never compromise their dreams.
Ballet, Jazz, Jazz40
Karine Newborn was
born and raised in Paris, France where she studied ballet with
teachers from the Paris Opera and the Paris conservatory. She also
studied jazz, modern, placement, voice and acting.
At the age of 15
she started working in some of the most renowned modern jazz
companies in Paris and performed in "Cats" (Paris). She continued
her career in France until she moved to America when she was 20 to
pursue bigger dreams. She worked as a dancer, choreographer, singer,
actor, dance teacher and private coach in Ballet, Pointe work, Jazz,
Contemporary Jazz, Contemporary Ballet, Voice, Pilates, floor barre
(turn out, stretch and strength) and Placement/Alignment.
She had the joy of
performing in many stage shows like "Aida" on Broadway (Elton John)
“Cats" (Paris), Golden Boys"( Long Warf theater), and numerous music
videos & movies ("South Pacific" with Glenn Close, "Do You Want To
Dance" ...) trade shows industrial (Nike, Asix, Abba & many more).

pleasure to work with renown choreographers like Vince Parterson,
Marguerite Derricks, Jerry Mitchel, Wayne Cilento, Billy Goodson,

Karine is the
former owner and director of Brooklyn Dance project in NY and was
the artistic director at Act III Performing Art Center in Redondo
Beach. She has taught for over three decades, working with young and
mature dancers in all styles of dance. She was a permanent teacher
at EDGE Performing Arts Center in L.A. for over 10 years and Broadway
Dance Center in NYC. She has also taught numerous workshops at (BDC
Japan), Studio Harmonic (Paris, France) and all over America and she
was part of the convention L.A. DanceForce and Pacific Dance Project.
Diana Schoenfield, a native to Nashville,
Tennessee, is a choreographer located in Los Angeles. She is a member of Entity
Contemporary Dance Company, directed by Marissa Osato and Will Johnston. She is
also a member of Culture Shock LA, a Hip Hop Dance Company committed to
cultivating self-worth and respect for all people through music, dance, and
education. Diana has worked closely with Modern Dance legend Donald McKayle as a
member of his repertory company, Etude Ensemble. Diana has trained with
Sheron Wray, working with improvisation principles and Jazz choreography as a
member of Wray's JazzXchange Organization. Diana graduated from the
Honors Program at University of California, Irvine with a B.F.A. in Dance
Choreography and a B.F.A. in Dance Performance.
Diana has presented original works in
the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts, McCallum Choreography
Festival, TEDxOrangeCoast, and TEDxUCSD. She has also choreographed
for French artist Johnny Hallyday, as well as artists Shane Dawson,
Trisha Paytas, Joey Graceffa, Luke Conard, and Jake Coco. Diana’s
diverse influences of hip hop, jazz, and modern fuse to create a
dynamic contemporary style of movement and musicality. Through dance
education, Diana is dedicated to spreading positivity, passion, and
empowerment to her students.
Skeene is a dancer, instructor, graphic designer and choreographer
from Springfield, MA! Trained in Atlanta, GA, Ajaye is versatile in
many different styles of Hip-hop and funk. Now residing in North
hollywood, Ca Ajaye has performed with some of the industries
biggest stars; Credits include Step Up Revolution, Jacob Latimore,
Lloyd, T pain, Keri Hilson, Chris Brown, Ariana Grande and more!
